Turns out there do appear to be a bunch of studies on clinicaltrials.gov but the results aren't available for any of the ones I've found so far. Strange.

In this interim analysis, adding oral L-arginine to standard therapy in patients with severe COVID-19 significantly decreases the length of hospitalization and reduces the respiratory support at 10 but not at 20 days after starting the treatment.

Only discussing severe cases in the lancet but it should work for mild cases as well. supplements for these aminos are pretty cheap and available at any health store.
